Event recap: Customer-first focus in a changing business environment

6 October 2016/by Keith Mallia
On Friday 30th September, KPMG Crimsonwing held an event titled ‘Customer-first focus in a changing business environment’ at Corinthia Hotel in front of around 30 people coming from different industries. The event opened with a small speech from our Director Stephen Abela during which he highlighted what KPMG Crimsonwing does and how it is now positioned in the ever-growing IT market.

Peter van den Berg took the stage next and he delivered an excellent keynote speech whereby he highlighted the challenges of the current business environment and what companies must do in order to remain relevant. During his delivery, the internet of things was discussed – an area that is certainly affecting the majority of businesses irrespective of their size and the industry they operate in. To close off, Peter made reference to the top 10 customer trends and this lead to various discussions with members of the audience about their own realities.

Two separate demos of Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2016 online were then delivered. The first one focused on the Sales, Marketing and Customer Service modules of the platform and one aspect that got people talking was Social Media Marketing. Using Dynamics Marketing, an organisation is able to create multi-channel campaigns such as, emails and traditional media. These programmes can be amplified by social media posts and the interesting part is the data that an organisation is able to gather from the software. For instance, an organisation is able to have campaign performance data split by different geographies. This can help companies in their decisions of what offers to make to which markets. More information on this can be found in the video below:
The focus of the second demo was Project Services Automation which is an end-to-end solution that provides a single system for customer engagement, project sales, resourcing, delivery and billing. It delivers an out-of-the-box experience with Microsoft productivity applications and machine learning capabilities on your device of choice.

After the demos, the event concluded with a lunch, where a lot of thoughts and experiences were exchanged by attendees and this allowed for new connections to be made. Clearly there was a lot of food for thought.
